This scholarly work refutes Jesus's purported physical, bodily resurrection and those writings in support of it. This book is compelling, relevant and current for those readers seeking scholarly refutations of that resurrection. This in-depth work presents the reader with 113 issues. Altogether one hundred twenty contradictions and 217 speculations are examined. Topics include cutting edge research in astronomy, geophysics, criminology and the rules of evidence, the social sciences and cognitive psychology.

I strongly believe that you will find that this text you will find to be the gold standard as a scholarly work that refutes Jesus's purported resurrection.

Sincerely,

Michael Alter [michaeljalter.wordpress.com]Researcherhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07265525785551518756noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-11714522.post-55810282396236602772015-11-10T13:47:56.718-05:002015-11-10T13:47:56.718-05:00Improbable? Ydemoc called it. Good job...Hi Dawson and friends. Ydemoc called it. Good job.

Dawson // So here’s a friendly little challenge for those who, after reading this, still think that I should accept “the Resurrection” as factually true: Present a defense of “the Resurrection” story as Christianity informs it in a manner that is wholly consistent with the recognition that wishing doesn’t make it so. If your defense involves a supernatural being which brings about any event essentially by means of wishing, willing, commanding, etc., then you fail. Game? //

Can't be done. Christianity is based on magic all the way up and down. Reality isn't magic, so I doubt Dawson's challenge will get any takers. The eighteenth and nineteenth century Protestant rationalists argued the Gospel stories were essentially fact based except for the supernatural elements so that the Resurrection was a magical supernatural fictional depiction of an purely natural set of events intended to be understood as an abstract rendering of an ideal, an allegory. To those scholars, Jesus somehow survived Crucifixion and subsequently escaped from his tomb probably with assistance from his followers. They argued the stories of the Roman guards and Spear stabbing were embellishments like unto the miracle tales. Super-naturalist Christians hated them for their ideas and argued for literal understanding of the Gospel stories. Hays seems to fall into that camp.

However, consider the continuing story of Jesus's ascension. What if the ascension was the key to Christian religious paradigm instead of the Resurrection? What probability calculus could Hay bring to bear on modern atheist skeptics who point to the direct evidence that there's nothing up there but outer space in order to discredit their idea or those of the hated rationalist apologists who would hold that the ascension was and allegorical metaphor for some sort of ethical program? How could Hays answer without appearing a fool? I don't know. However, both sets of stories are ridiculous.

Cheers. Best Regards.
Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03469718358131331499noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-11714522.post-60657135253406540102015-11-07T16:37:32.853-05:002015-11-07T16:37:32.853-05:00Dawson,
